Indie Music - Huh?

In this world, there are probably hundreds and thousands of different genres and sub genres of music.

New genres and their sophisticated hybrids (e.g. Bubblegum pop, tecktonic, black metal etc) are constantly created because musicians need to reinvent themselves, their instruments and their music, in order to capture a unique sound!

But what is indie music?

Many have argued that "Indie is not a genre". You can check out the forum
here. As you may already know, Indie is short for Independent, which actually refers to unsigned bands or bands not signed onto a major record label. It's so difficult to define indie music!

One example of an artist who released her work without the help of the radio, or the traditional channels of a record label, single-handedly managed all the mixing, recording and marketing etc, would be
Queenie Sataro. She is a very successful indie singer-songwriter to boot! Written with experience, Queenie posted an incredibly insightful discussion on Indie music, which you can read at: http://www.musesmuse.com/00000579.html
"...I believe that indies are on the verge of a musical revolution... indies have music to offer that is more authentic than anything that the majors have offered in years."

What's your definition of indie music? How do you think it sounds like? Comment!

I seriously believe too that independent music will take over the music scene, with major recording companies restricting many artists, these unrestricted indie artist, truly are the next big thing!
